Hi, I'm Nadine

I had been playing around with polymer clay for some time, just as a creative outlet. It came easy to me and I enjoyed the functional aspect of being able to wear my creative musings. Over time, my earrings became complementary to my style. On some days the choice of earring came first, and my outfit second. Over time people started to notice my earrings... One day over a coffee chat, someone convinced me that she wanted to buy earrings from me. Not just one, she wanted to pay me to develop a small collection. A unique gift for her friend who is embracing a new style as part of a transformative personal journey. I was moved by the story and full of ideas, so I said I’ll try.. She (her name is Linzi) simply replied in a gentle voice ‘‘I trust you with it’’ and I believed her. Since then, the universe has gently nudged me with signs to keep going… In a random moment, I met Ruby who happened to be a jewelry designer. From that very first moment we met she was so generous in sharing her experience and journey. Her mentorship has been invaluable to progress my technical skills and to learn how to sit and think about my design choices. She pointed me in the direction of a local beads and makers shop in Hilversum 'La Tarifa'. The most friendly and patient team who have really helped me to connect my ideas with materials. They just smiled whenever I came back again and again after a failed experiment and would brainstorm with me. It encouraged me to be more daring and bold in my designs. Slowly but surely I grew more confident, passionate and clear on a vision to establish my own statement earrings jewelry brand… Bayla Bloom is a small scale jewelry brand specializing in bespoke capsule collections. The name holds a subtle reference to my son Bennett and daughter Ayla (Bayla). And Bloom really speaks to me as a feminine strength of openness, presence and growing into our full potential. What lights up my passion fire is to really get to know the woman who wears Bayla Bloom. To be able to understand her essence and to craft a unique design that illuminates her presence. Her Bayla Bloom earring is an eyecatcher sparking curiosity and inviting others to discover something about her personal story. Commissions allow me to really connect throughout the design process. Keeping in touch with how this all started, a fun creative expression that I could wear to compliment my style, I still create freely. That’s how the limited collections come together. They are a curated selection of my creative musings and explorations. They also serve as inspiration for made to order requests, for example to apply a particular color or pattern or to change the plated setting (gold/silver). To close on a personal note, I love this quote from Virginia Woolf: ‘‘A self that goes on changing is a self that goes on living’’. It is very exciting to explore this new avenue of creativity, craft and entrepreneurship!
